Suspect in Southeast DC homicide sought by police

Homicide detectives are looking for a man in connection to a double shooting on Hillside Road that left one man dead.

WASHINGTON — Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help to track down a suspect wanted in a double shooting earlier this month that left one man dead.

The shooting happened in the 4600 block of Hillside Road, Southeast on Friday, June 11, according to police. Arriving officers found two men shot. The two victims were taken to an area hospital, and one of the men, later identified as 28-year-old Delonte Johnson, died from his injuries, police said.

The second victim was treated for injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

Metropolitan Police Department detectives have released images from a nearby surveillance camera of the man they believe is a suspect in the shooting.

Police want to know if you recognize the man. A reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
