Here's when severe thunderstorms could impact your Thursday

The WUSA9 Weather Watch team has issued a Weather Watch Alert Thursday for mainly evening strong storms.

WASHINGTON — THIS IS AN OUTDATED STORY... Our risk of severe weather has lowered to a 1 of 5 (Marginal) Risk Thursday evening and the Weather Watch Alert is no longer in effect. Latest forecast here.

Thursday's system will come in two waves: The first during the morning commute and the second later Thursday evening. Showers and storms will be hit or miss and not everyone will get wet weather. The threat if severe weather has shifted south of D.C. more toward Richmond.

The day will start with a round of showers.  However, we will be monitoring the potential for strong and possibly severe storms embedded in the evening round of showers.

The Storm Prediction Center currently has areas along and east of I-95 under a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms with the biggest threat being damaging wind and hail. Here's a full breakdown of timing.

How Much Rain Will We See?

By the time rain and thunderstorms end, some places could pick up about a half-inch of rain. Generally, all rain should be gone by the Friday morning commute.
