Multi-vehicle crash shuts down OL Beltway near American Legion Bridge

A dump truck lost its load causing several vehicles to crash along the outerloop of the Beltway.

CABIN JOHN, Md. — A dump truck lost its load leaving mud and debris on the outer loop of the Beltway, Interstate 495 near the American Legion bridge Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 4:20 a.m. causing a tractor-trailer, dump truck and several other vehicles to crash on southbound I-495 past Clara Barton Parkway (Exit 41). 

The multi-vehicle collision scene stretched for at least one mile and caused a miles-long backup in Cabin John, Md. 

All lanes have since been reopened to traffic as of 9 a.m. But, there are still significant delays on the outer loop, beginning near Maryland Route 650 and extending to Interstate 270. 

At this time, there are no reported injuries.
