I-270 crash in Hyattstown causes major traffic backup

Drivers in the area of Route 109 near Old Hundred Road should expect delays Tuesday morning.

HYATTSTOWN, Md. — A crash on southbound Interstate 270 caused major delays for drivers in Hyattstown, Maryland, Tuesday morning.

Maryland State Police troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash in the area of Route 109 near Old Hundred Road around 5:40 a.m. Lanes were blocked for the crash investigation, at one point reduced to just one lane.

All three vehicles were eventually moved to the right shoulder and tow trucks are on scene to clear the area.

Maryland State Police said no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

All lanes of the Interstate have since reopened, but major delays impacted the morning commute.

Drivers were asked to use MD-355 Southbound to get around the crash, but that road was also congested Tuesday morning.

Congestion had cleared up by 7 a.m.
