Months after a 3-year-old girl was killed in a crash, the child's mother has been arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect, as well as several other offenses.

According to a press release from the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD), the crash happened near Connecticut Avenue and Atherton Drive on May 12, 2022.

Officers claim 36-year-old Danshell Sade Jamillah Evon was speeding southbound on Connecticut Avenue and collided with a 1997 Ford F-150, towing a utility trailer while the truck was trying to turn left from Atherton Drive.

The two people inside the truck were injured, as well as two 13-year-old children who were in Evon's car. Dreamie Dior Jackson, 3, died in the crash.

More than six months later, Evon was arrested and has been charged with manslaughter by vehicle, child abuse, child neglect, and second-degree assault. She has since been released on bond.

In an obituary for her daughter back in May, Evon wrote that 3 year-old Dreamie Jackson "...loved makeup, playing with her dolls, drawing art and going to her gymnastics classes."

"She had a huge heart," Evon wrote about her daughter. "And her personality was contagious. She was a very special soul."
