Shooting leaves 1 shot, killed in Sheetz parking lot in Maryland

Deputies are urging anyone with cellphone video or images, who was present at the scene, to submit it with the sheriff's office.

ST. MARY'S COUNTY, Md. — A homicide investigation is underway in St. Mary's County after one person was shot and killed Tuesday night in a Sheetz parking lot.

Deputies with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to the parking lot of the Sheetz, located on Old Great Mills Road, off of Point Lookout Road, in Great Mills, Maryland, just before 10:40 p.m. after receiving a call about shots fired. 

Soon after, deputies also went to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, Maryland, after a report of a victim who arrived with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Marcus Anthony Day, was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office has not released any information about a person of interest in the case or motive.
