Fire causes $800,000 worth of damage to Potomac home

There were no working smoke alarms inside the home, officials say.

POTOMAC, Md. — Fire crews were called to the scene of a house fire in Potomac on Monday morning.

According to fire officials, the incident happened on the 7600 block of Tree Lane.

It was reported that the cause of the fire was due to an unattended pot on the stove. 

Officials said the one person in the home observed the smoke and attempted to call authorities but could not because the phone was in the kitchen.

A neighbor called in to report the fire shortly after, officials said.

Fire officials said damages to the home was estimated to be about $800,000.
