MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A crash involving police, a suspect vehicle and a Metro bus that led to road closures Monday was allegedly the result of an armed robbery investigation in Montgomery County.
Just after 2:40 p.m., officers responded to the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road for a reported robbery, according to police, and found several suspects at the White Oak Shopping Center.
They say the suspects then drove off and officers pursued their car until it crashed into the back of a Metro bus. A Montgomery County Police cruiser then crashed into the suspect's car.
After the crash, Northbound Georgia Avenue closed at Burlington Avenue and 13th Street as a result.
Two men were taken into custody and Montgomery County Fire Rescue extricated another man from the crashed car. They also recovered a gun, police said.
Surveillance video from a nearby business showed the moment the chase ended.
No officers were injured during the incident and no serious passenger injuries have been reported on the Metro bus so far.
This is a developing story and we will continue to update as more information becomes available.
