CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — Police say a Maryland woman is in custody for allegedly shooting and killing her stepfather.

Bridgette Robertson, 39, of Seat Pleasant, is charged in the murder of Gregory Byrd Sr., of District Heights, according to Prince George's County Police

On May 10, just after 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the 6500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Capitol Heights for a shooting. Byrd Sr. was found outside after being shot multiple times. He was taken to an area hospital for help, where he died 12 days later on May 22.

Detectives identified Robertson as the suspect and got a warrant charging her with attempted first-degree murder and other related charges.

On May 11, just a day after the shooting, police located and arrested Robertson in Clinton. She was taken to the Department of Corrections, where she remains in custody. Detectives have amended her charges since Byrd Sr.'s death.

Investigators say Robertson shot her stepfather during an argument.
