Manassas shooting leaves man dead while he was sleeping in a parked car

At this point in the investigation, the police department says the shooting does not appear to be random.

MANASSAS, Va. — A man was shot and killed while sleeping in a car in Manassas early Thursday, sparking an investigation into what happened.

Officers with the Prince William County Police Department responded to Cadet Court, off of Wellington Road, just after 2:40 a.m. after a report of a shooting. Through an investigation, it was determined that two men were sleeping inside a parked car in the area when one of them was shot.

The man who was shot died at the location. No information has been released about his identity, this includes his name, age, and where he is from.

The second man was not injured in the shooting. At this point, the police department says the shooting does not appear to be random.

Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting and are seeking to speak with anyone who has information to help in the active investigation.
