Man charged with luring juvenile into woods and sexually assaulting them in Rockville, more victims possible

Detectives are concerned there are more victims who may not have contacted police.

ROCKVILLE, Md. — Police arrested a man in connection to the sexual assault of a juvenile in a wooded area of Rockville and investigators believe there may be more victims.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, 46-year-old Charles Erby Jr. was arrested on Friday, April 12 by the Special Victims Investigations Division. 

Detectives say Erby lured a juvenile into a wooded area in the 13000 block of Veirs Mill Road around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10. While in the woods, Erby reportedly sexually assaulted the juvenile. 

Erby has since been charged with second-degree rape of a minor. He was arrested in D.C. and will be held until he can be extradited to Montgomery County. 

Detectives are concerned there are more victims who may not have contacted police. Anyone who may be, or know, a victim is asked to contact the SVID- Child Exploitation Unit at 240-773-5400 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
