WASHINGTON — A man is facing charges after police say he tried to use a replica handgun to force another person to have sex with him, kidnapping the victim when they refused.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, 38-year-old Charles Thompson Jr. was with the victim in an apartment in the 3900 block of Davis Place, Northwest on Saturday.
Investigators say at some point, Thompson pulled out a replica handgun and tried to force the victim to "engage in a forced sex act" with him. When the victim refused, Thompson reportedly made sure the victim couldn't leave until the next day, when the victim escaped.
On Sunday, the victim was able to get out and call police around 2 p.m. Responding officers say they tried to get Thompson to leave the apartment but he refused. A barricade situation unfolded, which ended when Thompson reportedly agreed to open the door shortly after 9:45 p.m. He was then placed under arrest.
Thompson has been charged with Assault with Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse, Kidnapping, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
