Man arrested in North Carolina for deadly Prince George's Co. stabbing

Detectives say Hernandez Martinez and Cardona lived in the same home. Hernandez Martinez is accused of stabbing Cardona during an argument.

BELTSVILLE, Md. — A Maryland man accused of killing his 70-year-old roommate was arrested in North Carolina weeks after the deadly stabbing. 

According to the Prince George's County Police Department, 21-year-old Jose Hernandez Martinez is accused of killing Lucas Pineda Cardona. 

Investigators say around 9 p.m. on March 10, officers were called to the 11400 block of Queen Anne Avenue for reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found 70-year-old Cardona suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime. 

Detectives say Hernandez Martinez and Cardona lived in the same home. Martinez is accused of stabbing Cardona during an argument. 

Hernandez Martinez was arrested in North Carolina and will be extradited to Prince George's County to face first- and second-degree murder charges.
