Mail carrier robbed at gunpoint in Southeast DC, police say

Police said the mail carrier robbed was not injured.

WASHINGTON — Editor's note: The video attached to the article is from a series of postal workers being robbed by gunpoint in D.C. and Maryland within a 24-hour span. 

A mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint while delivering mail in Southeast D.C. on Monday evening, DC Police said.

The incident happened at the 1100 block of K Street Southeast D.C around 5:30 p.m. 

According to the police report, the suspect approached the mail carrier on the right side and pointed a gun at the side of his neck and to the right side of his rib cage. 

The thief asked the mail carrier to remove the keys, hand them over to him and leave. The mail carrier complied with the suspect's request, the police report stated. The mail carrier reportedly saw the suspect flee to an unknown direction with the keys.

The mail carrier left the area, alerted his supervisor, and contacted the police.

Police said the mail carrier was not injured in the robbery. DC Police are investigating the incident.
