LUSBY, Md. — A Maryland teenager was stabbed by a classmate in his school cafeteria Tuesday, according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.
CCSO detectives say a 16-year-old Patuxent High School student was allegedly stabbed by a 15-year-old student in the cafeteria around 11:18 a.m. A school resource officer was first on the scene and determined that the two teenage boys had gotten in a physical fight that escalated.
Police said the victim was stabbed in the arm and torso area. The teen boy was taken to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, and is expected to survive.
The 15-year-old was arrested by detectives, according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, and he's been charged with first-degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. He is being held at a juvenile facility.
