WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - We'll stay very mild overnight with showers. Cooler air moves into the Metro Area Friday along with rain and showers. Temperatures will be in the upper fifties to near sixty Friday morning but dress for the forties as temps fall all day. Grab the umbrella Friday as widespread showers and rain move in for both commutes. We issued a Yellow Alert for Friday.
After a colder and mainly dry Saturday, a storm will approach from the south early on Sunday morning. Cold air will be in place near the ground, leading to a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain through Sunday afternoon. The mix will eventually change to rain from SE to NW by evening in DC and points south & east, and during Sunday night for the northern and western suburbs. Both the Redskins and Ravens have home games on Sunday. You can watch the Redskins game right here on WUSA 9 at 1 PM as they host the Kansas City Chiefs. Allow yourself plenty of extra travel time if you are heading to either stadium on Sunday. We have issued a Red Alert for Sunday because of the wintry mix and the possibility of icing.
The BB & T Classic is also being played at the Verizon Center Sunday.
