Police: 16-year-old arrested for stabbing a man to death in Southeast

Police said the juvenile is being charged with second-degree murder while armed.

WASHINGTON — The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly stabbing a man to death Monday night in the 1600 block of R Street, Southeast.

Officers arrived on the scene at 8:20 p.m. on Monday night and found 41-year-old Dameon Yates, of Southeast, D.C. unresponsive with lacerations. EMS pronounced Yates dead at the scene.

Police said the teenager is being charged with second-degree murder while armed with a knife. Per D.C. policy, the name of the juvenile charged has not been released.
