Thousands without power across the DMV after severe thunderstorms

According to Dominion Energy's power outage map, about 16,000 customers in the D.C. area are without power as of Thursday morning.

WASHINGTON — Thousands are without power across the DMV Thursday morning after severe thunderstorms hit the area Wednesday night. 

According to Dominion Energy's power outage map, more than 10,000 customers in the D.C. area are without power as of 5:30 a.m. Pepco's outage map shows just 77 customers affected by outages early Thursday. And over 500 customers were impacted with BGE.

There is no word on when power may be restored at this time.

D.C., Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Arlington, Fairfax County, Falls Church and Alexandria were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning Wednesday for the threat of wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail
