Damages:

The storm caused multiple trees to fall in the Bethesda and Kensington area, according to a spokesperson from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

In the 5200 block of Acacia Avenue in Bethesda, a tree damaged a home and displaced the family inside. Authorities say no one was hurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, in the 10400 block of Muir Place in Kensington, another tree crashed through the roof of a home into a room. The homeowner of that residence said no one hurt in that incident as well.

Bethesda resident Daniel Tiso, 11, said a falling tree on Cheshire Drive narrowly missed hitting his dad's car. He said while their car was spared, their basement still got a little messy.

“A small waterfall [is] coming down from one of the windows in our basement," he said.

Another tree fell on the driveway to the Wildwood Manor Pool, one block away from Tiso's residence. Cars at that pool were trapped for over an hour.

Lifeguard Mackenzie Raue said the storm that hit the area was intense.

“You could not see three feet in front of you," she said.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer shared that more than 100 calls came into the county's emergency communication center between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Piringer said the daily average is about 325-350 calls.

Traffic Alerts:

As of Thursday morning, Route 7/Leesburg Pike is closed in both ways between George Marshall Drive and Dominion for storm damage, according to Fairfax County Police Department.

Trains were temporarily bypassing the Forest Glen stop on the red line Wednesday due to a power outage, according to a tweet from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Rail Info account.
