Man hit by driver in crosswalk near the National Mall

There is no word on the man's condition at this time.

WASHINGTON — A man was airlifted to an area hospital Monday night after being hit by a driver while in a crosswalk near the National Mall.

At 8:42 p.m., DC Fire and EMS were called to the intersection of 14th Street and Madison Drive, Northwest for a pedestrian that had been hit. The man was airlifted to an area hospital by US Park Police. It is unclear if the man is expected to survive. 

There is no word on what caused the crash or who the driver is at this time. Police continue to investigate.
