Police searching for driver of vehicle in deadly hit-and-run crash in Howard County

Police say it is believed that the pedestrian was not in the crosswalk at the time of the crash.

JESSUP, Md. — A pedestrian is dead after being struck in an early Monday hit-and-run crash in Jessup, now police are searching for the vehicle involved.

Officers with the Howard County Police Department say the collision happened just after 3 a.m. Through an investigation they were able to determine the driver of a dark-colored sedan was traveling south on Washington Boulevard at Patuxent Range Road when they hit a man crossing the road. 

The man was pronounced dead at the location. No information has been released about his identity, this includes his name, age, and where he is from.

Police say the vehicle did not stay at the scene of the crash and it is believed the pedestrian was not in the crosswalk at the time of the collision.
 
A portion of Washington Boulevard in that area was closed for three and a half hours while the investigation was taking place. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
