COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Two people are dead and several others are hospitalized following a crash on Interstate 495 Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened shortly before 12:45 p.m. on the I-495 Outer Loop past Exit 25. While crews investigated the crash, two of the westbound lanes were closed.
Maryland State Police have confirmed that only one car was involved in the crash.
One of the passengers in the car was killed in the crash. She was identified as Loren Jones, 14, of Hyattsville.
The driver and three other passengers were taken to area hospitals for help. The driver, identified as Dorothy Skinner, 74, of Beltsville, died at the hospital.
The conditions of the three other passengers haven't been released.
The blocked roadways have since been reopened.
