Redskins react to assault arrest of player Montae Nicholson

Video appears to show Nicholson punching a man

ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Football players say they support teammate Montae Nicholson after Loudon County authorities arrested him early Tuesday morning on assault charges in Ashburn, Va.

TMZ video has emerged showing a man in a red hoodie, presumably Nicholson, punching a man who falls to the ground.

Someone is heard yelling, "stop it, Montae!'

WUSA9 told tight end Vernon Davis the video existed and he watched it in the locker room, with a shocked look on his face.

"It's hard to see something like that," he said. "I'd only imagine alcohol was involved and we all know what happens when alcohol is involved, you're not thinking clearly."

Head Coach Jay Gruden said at his weekly press conference the team would look at the video, talk to Montae and make a decision. He said the safety will not play in the team's game Saturday against the Titans.
