Missing woman found dead in trash collection truck in Woodbridge

Her family became worried after she didn't pick up her child from daycare.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A 28-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of a Woodbridge woman who was reported missing on Thursday.

Officers with the Prince William County Police Department responded to a Stevenson Court home, off of Old Bridge Road, around 8:50 p.m. to investigate a report of a missing person. Family members of 30-year-old Taty'ana Zakiyyah were concerned for her wellbeing after she didn't pick up her child from daycare.

Through an investigation, detectives learned that her vehicle was being driven by an acquaintance of hers in Newport News City, located in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. In addition, Zakiyyah's belongings were still inside of her Woodbridge home.

On Thursday, in the area of her home, detectives stopped a trash collection truck and was able to find Zakiyyah's body after a search. Additional evidence uncovered that the acquaintance, later identified as Brendon White, of Woodbridge, was involved in her death.

Detectives have obtained a murder warrant for White, who was located and arrested by Newport News Police.
