70-year-old man killed in hit-and-run in Alexandria

70-year-old James Thomson lying in the middle of the road. He told officers he was walking across the street when he was hit by a car.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A Virginia man has passed away from a hit-and-run crash in Alexandria.

Officers with the Alexandria Police Department arrived at the intersection of North Jordan Street and Taney Avenue on May 9 at 9:20 p.m. where they found 70-year-old James Thomson lying in the middle of the road. 

Thomson told officers he was walking across the street when he was hit by a car. He was taken to a hospital with injuries to the back of his head believed to be non-life-threatening. However, his condition rapidly began deteriorating. 

Thomson died on Saturday, May 18. 

At this time, police have not released any further information regarding the hit-and-run. They are asking for the public’s assistance locating any witnesses, surveillance footage, or information to help further the investigation.
