2 teens shot, 1 seriously injured in Stafford Co.

H.H. Poole Parkridge Elementary was placed under a lockdown following the shooting. That lockdown has since been lifted.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Deputies are investigating after two teens were shot in Stafford County Thursday afternoon.

According to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the area of Parkway Boulevard and Sharon Lane just after 4 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they found two teenagers had been shot. One of those teens is currently in serious condition.

The Sheriff's Office says the first teen, a 15-year-old, was found in the parking lot of a neighborhood playground and swimming pool shot in his back.

K-9s tracked two 17-year-olds to a neighbor’s back yard where investigators say they were hiding in a shed. One was shot in the leg.

"We're not sure that these are the only suspects. So we're continuing our investigation. We're still searching for a motive," said Maj. Shawn Kimmitz.

H.H. Poole Middle School, Park Ridge Elementary School, the Merit School of Stafford, and Porter Library were placed on full lockdown, while North Stafford High School was placed on a partial lockdown.

Investigators say they found three handguns and the gunshot injuries to the two teens are not considered life-threatening.

The sheriff's offices say it has located the parents of all three teens.

One of the 17-year-olds has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The second 17-year-old has been charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, and grand larceny of a firearm. Both are currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

Neighbors say they've worried about fights at this park before.

"It's a lot of confrontational talk over meaningless basketball stuff," said parent C.J. Lee. "Kids and egos, man. Kids and egos."
