Teen with autism found safe, police say

Authorities say the 13-year-old has been located Thursday morning.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Police say a missing teenage boy with autism has been found safe after a statewide alert was issued Thursday morning. They did not offer any other details about the circumstances of his discovery.

Virginia authorities were searching for the teenage boy with autism after he vanished from an Alexandria neighborhood Wednesday morning.

Police say the 13-year-old  was last seen walking in the area of the Ellen Coolidge Burke Branch Library, in the 4700 block of Kenmore Avenue around 8:30 a.m.

Because of Kingston's autism diagnosis, Virginia State Police issued an alert just before 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
