MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. -- A cyclist has life-threatening injuries after a Montgomery Co. police officer struck him with a police vehicle on Friday night.
Police say the incident happened at around 11:10 p.m. in the area of Connecticut Avenue at Jones Bridge Road.
Officer James O’Rourke, driving a 2016 Ford Interceptor, was traveling south on Connecticut Avenue when he struck a man on a bike.
The cyclist was transported to the hospital. Office O’Rourke was not injured.
Police say O’Rourke did not have his emergency lights on it at the time.
The crash is being investigated.
