15,000 stolen construction tools recovered by Howard County Police

Investigators estimate the value of the equipment to be between $3 million and $5 million.

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — Around 15,000 stolen construction tools with an estimated value of $3 million to $5 million were recovered by Howard County Police.

Police are calling this one of the largest and most expansive theft cases in recent years. The tools were reportedly taken from homes, vehicles, businesses, retail stores and construction sites mostly in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

“This case sends a clear message: we will not tolerate criminal enterprises operating here in Howard County,” Police Chief Der said.

Police say more than 80 victims have been identified and potentially hundreds if not thousands more exist. If you believe your stolen tools may have been recovered in this case, fill out this online form.
