Police investigating homicide in Southeast DC

The young man has since been identified by police as 20-year-old Marjai Wimbush.

WASHINGTON — A man is dead after he was shot Sunday night in Southeast D.C.

Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the report of a shooting in the 4200 block of 4th Street Southeast just before 10:45 a.m. Responding officers found a man shot in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The young man has since been identified by police as 20-year-old Marjai Wimbush. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. 

Homicide detectives were also called to the scene to conduct an investigation to figure out exactly what happened. Right now, police have not made any arrests in this case.
