Teen arrested, charged for deadly shooting of 15-year-old in Northeast DC

Police have not stated the motive behind this shooting, but it is following an alarming trend when it comes to youth and crime in the District.

WASHINGTON — A 15-year-old was sitting on his great-grandmother's porch in Northeast D.C. when he was fatally shot on Oct. 13, now police say they have arrested another teen for the incident.

An investigation into the shooting sparked when officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to 48th Place Northeast, nearby Eads Street Northeast, around 3:40 p.m. At the scene, they found a teen, identified as Andre Robertson Jr., suffering from gunshot wounds.

Robertson was taken to a local hospital where life-saving efforts failed and he unfortunately was pronounced dead.

"I'm angry, angry as hell, that another coward took my grandson," said his grandmother, Trealetha Robertson, just hours after his death. "Some coward came through here and murdered my little grandson for no reason."

Just under a month later, on Nov. 4, police arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy, of Northeast, D.C., with first degree murder while armed.

Police have not stated the motive behind this shooting, but it is following an alarming trend when it comes to youth and crime in the District.

"Our young people are showing up in crimes involving shootings, crimes involving carjackings at a pace that I have not seen in my 30-plus year career," DC Police Robert Contee said.
