Husband, wife arrested in connection with Maryland fatal shooting

The victim is believed to have been in a romantic relationship with the couple, police say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — A husband and wife were arrested Tuesday in connection with a fatal shooting in Adelphi, Md.

Edgar Garcia Constancia, 24, and Norma Reyes Carbajal, 27, are charged with the murder of 20-year-old Merlin Ramirez-Lara, according to a Prince George's County Police press release.

Officers responded to the 8600 block of 20th Ave. Tuesday around 6:15 a.m. for a welfare check and discovered the victim outside suffering from gunshot wounds. Ramirez-Lara was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

According to Prince George's County police, their investigation reveals Ramirez-Lara had been in a romantic relationship with the husband and wife. Reyes Carbajal agreed to meet the victim at the shooting location, where Garcia Constancia was waiting -- he shot and killed Ramirez-Lara.

Both suspects are in custody of the Department of Corrections.
