DRAMATIC VIDEO: Person pulled from burning car on Suitland Parkway, bystanders try to put out flames

Once the flames appear to be under control, the video shows bystanders carrying a person from the car as smoke eludes behind them.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Cell phone video captured by a bystander shows a dramatic scene of a car catching fire and people rushing to put the fire out and rescue the person inside the car on Suitland Parkway in Prince George's County. 

The car fire started after a police say two cars crashed at Pennsylvania Avenue at Westphalia Road on Suitland Parkway on Monday around 11:40 a.m.

The video captured by Anthony Brooks shows the car in the middle of the roadway with the front end of the car smashed in and flames coming from the hood. Debris from the crash can be seen littered throughout the street. 

Several people can be seen in the video rushing with fire extinguishers towards the burning car, in attempts to put out the flames. Once the flames appear to be under control, the video shows bystanders carrying a person from the car as smoke eludes behind them.

Brooks told WUSA9 reporter Lorenzo Hall that men rushed from a nearby gas station to help. 

Police said two people were seriously injured as a result of the crash. The identities of the people involved in the crash have not been released and the cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
