Man shot, killed in Northeast DC, police say

This is the District's 56th homicide of 2024. As compared to 69 homicides the same time last year.

WASHINGTON — A man is dead after a shooting at the intersection of North Capitol and P Street in Northeast, D.C. Tuesday night.

At 9:08 p.m., a call regarding a shooting at the intersection came into the Metropolitan Police Department. At the scene, officers found a man who was shot and not breathing. He was later declared dead. 

Police identified the man as 19-year-old Daquan Garner of Northwest

Police say this represents the District's 56th homicide of 2024. As compared to 69 homicides the same time last year. 

Police are asking anyone with information about this case to contact them at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line 50411.
