WASHINGTON — On April 30, D.C. Police were called to the Sala Thai restaurant located on C Street, Southeast for reports of a robbery. When officers arrived, they found the alleged robber being held at the restaurant by an employee.
Witnesses told police that the robber came in and asked to use the restroom. When he was leaving the restroom, the key for the cash register was sticking out from under the drawer. He took the key, opened the register, and took $20.
The restaurant employee and a patron stopped the robber before he could get away. Police arrived, placed him under arrest and returned the $20 back to the business. Then according to a police report, the robber broke away from the officer and started running while handcuffed.
In a video shared with WUSA9, the robber can be seen running down the escalator of the Stadium Armory Metro Station with his hands handcuffed behind his back. Within seconds, an officer is seen chasing after him.
The robber was caught and placed under arrest again. When officers ran his name through processing, an outstanding warrant from the Arlington County Sheriff’s County appeared. The warrant was from April 22, for Robbery. The robber is being charged with Theft 2 and Fugitive from Justice.
