Man on bike robbed by 2 men pretending to be police officers during traffic stop

Police are looking for two men who had red and blue lights on their car dashboard and flashed silver badges at the victim.

LEESBURG, Va. — A man riding his bike in Leesburg, Virginia Friday afternoon was robbed by two men pretending to be police officers, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

Around 4:30 p.m. the man said he was riding his bike on a sidewalk in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road, NE when a grey Toyota Corolla with tinted windws pulled up beside him. The car had flashing red and blue lights on the dashboard, so thinking it was an undercover cop car, the cyclist pulled over. Two men got out of the car and approached the biker, showing silver badges to him. While questioning him, one of the men took money out of the cyclist's wallet and then both men got back in the car and drove away. The biker said he saw the Toyota turn onto Plaza Street NE.

One of the men was described as black, 6-foot-2, had a beard and a muscular build. The other man was white, approximately 5-foot-9, clean-shaven and had a slim build. Both men were wearing grey shirts, jeans and black vests, with silver badges on their belts that they flashed as police badges.
