Trial continues for man accused of murdering a delivery driver at a Manassas Denny's

Yusuf Ozgur was killed on Dec. 26, 2019 while picking up a DoorDash order from the restaurant.

MANASSAS, Va. — Three years after a DoorDash driver was killed in a robbery the day after Christmas, one of the two men charged in his death is in court standing trial.

Yusuf Ozgur, a 56-year-old father of two, was walking into a Manassas Denny's just before 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 26, 2019 to pick up a delivery order for a customer when he unknowingly held the door open for the two men who would end up shooting him to death, according to prosecutors. Now, the alleged trigger man, Jordan Anderson is facing murder charges.

Day two of Anderson's trial brought out many emotions from the gallery, including Ozgur's family members present, as jurors were shown multiple videos of the last moments of his life. At times, the details were too much for the family to handle; his daughter had tears streaming down her face most of the day, and some family got up and left.

Another man shot during the robbery, Bradley Sheetz, survived and testified Tuesday that he was shot while sitting on the floor and complying with the suspects' orders. Sheetz, who said he had to be rushed into surgery to remove his spleen, said life has not been the same since the shooting and that he suffers ongoing issues.

A witness who was working at the Denny's told the jury what she could remember from that morning, but said some details were hazy. She recalled having a gun pointed at her head, and hearing Ozgur beg for help after he was shot, but she said she was too terrified to move to him.

There were a total of 23 people at Denny's at the time of the robbery including customers and employees. Police said that ultimately, no money or property was taken from the business.

Trial will resume Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., with more video footage of the aftermath of the shooting expected to be shown.

Anderson's alleged accomplice, Ryan Walker is set to stand trial in April. He is charged with one count of murder, one count of malicious wounding and one count of robbery.
