Tony Perkins joins the Get Up DC team!

D.C. icon Tony Perkins is joining the Get Up DC team on Monday, Oct. 21 for six weeks.

WASHINGTON — DMV, get excited!

D.C. icon Tony Perkins is joining the Get Up DC team on Monday, Oct. 21 for six weeks. 

"I'm so excited to be joining the Get Up DC team at WUSA come October! I like what they're doing and can't wait to be a part of it," Perkins said. "This is going to be a pretty unique, six-week adventure, and I hope folks will come along with us for what is going to be a really cool ride." 

Perkins has been a radio and TV broadcaster for 30 years. He is a a two-time Emmy award winner. 

He co-hosts "The Donnie Simpson Show” on Radio One’s MAJIC 102.3/92.7, weekday afternoons from 3 p.m to 7 p.m. 

Previously, he was the main anchor (and formerly weatherman) for Fox 5 in the District and the weatherman and feature reporter for ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Get Up DC is hosted by comedian and D.C. native Reese Waters, and anchored by fellow D.C. native Annie Yu. 

"I'm looking forward to getting D.C. up with Reese, Howard and the rest of the gang, and of course I'm thrilled to reunite with my friend and former co-anchor, Annie Yu," Perkins said. "This is going to be great!" 

Get Up DC offers the latest news, traffic, weather and trending stories with a distinct and unique D.C. point of view. 'Get Up DC!' airs live weekdays from 4:25 a.m. to 7 a.m.

“All of us at WUSA9 and Get Up DC are thrilled to welcome Tony to the team,” said Michael Valentine, VP/ Station Manager, WUSA9. “He’s a legend in our city and we know mornings for our fans are about to be even more interesting!”
