The work week will begin with a Yellow Weather Alert and risk of strong or severe thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center is already highlighting these possibilities with an 'Enhanced' risk area, meaning that several severe storms will be possible.

Hot and muggy conditions set the stage in the instability department ahead of a cold front that arrives late in the evening. Ahead of this front, we're expecting numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop and roll through the metro. Storm timing looks to start as early as 2 PM, with the greatest threats ramping up late afternoon through the evening hours.

General timing: 2 PM - 9 PM
I-81 Corridor: 1 PM - 3 PM
Metro: 4 PM - 6 PM
East of I-95: 5 PM - 9 PM

There will be some storms ahead of the main line of storms mid-afternoon that could contain some hail and heavy rain. Storms along a squall line, or line of storms, later in the evening will mainly carry a straight-line wind gust and locally heavy rain threat.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for today. This means the potential for flooding is possible and we will keep a close eye on developing conditions.
