Fairfax County police believe the body of a missing teen was found in an Alexandria park on Friday morning.

UPDATE: Fairfax teen was called from the park where her body was found, family says

According to police spokeswoman Julie Parker, an officer found a teen's body during a search of Woodlawn Park in the 4800 block of Manor Drive.

Police believe it's the body of 16-year-old Jholie Moussa -- due to the appearance and a tattoo on the body. She's been missing for 14 days.

Parker said the body was discovered just after 11 a.m. off of a path just beyond the tennis courts and was covered in leaves and debris.

At this time, the police are investigating the case as a homicide. The family has been notified.

According to Parker, it’s too early to tell how long the body has been there. Detectives are expected to remain on scene for several hours. The body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner.

WUSA9 Reporter Peggy Fox first reported the teen missing on Jan. 12 and spoke to the family about the search for their 16-year-old daughter.
