2-story house fire leaves 3 people displaced in Northwest DC

No one was injured in the fire.

WASHINGTON — Three people are without a home after a Friday morning fire in Northwest D.C.

Just after 6:15 a.m., DC Fire and EMS responded to Madison Street Northwest, off of 1st Street Northwest, after a report of a fire at a two-story home. At the location, firefighters found a fire on the first floor and extending to the second floor of a two-story semi-detached home. 

The fire was knocked down around 6:50 a.m., but they were still working to hit pockets of fire. By 7:19 a.m., the fire was officially under control.

There was three people inside of the home at the time of the fire, and they were alerted by smoke alarms, which helped them safely escape. No one was injured in the fire.

The three people were displaced from the home, and Red Cross of the National Capital and Greater Chesapeake Region has been requested to assist.
