Shooting leaves 1 man dead, another man injured in Northeast DC

The shooting happened nearby the D.C.-Maryland state line and just five minutes away from the Capitol Heights Metro stop.

WASHINGTON — An investigation is underway in Northeast D.C. after a shooting left one man injured and another dead Friday morning.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to 63rd Street Northeast, nearby the D.C.-Maryland state line and just five minutes away from the Capitol Heights Metro stop, just after 5:10 a.m. after a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they were able to locate a man who was shot in the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries and he is expected to recover.

A short time later, police found a second man who was shot, in the 6200 block of Dix Street, Northeast. Ronald Clark, 35, of Capitol Heights, Maryland was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police say the hospitalized victim was not cooperative as they investigate what happened. No suspect information has been released at this time.

Anyone with information may contact detectives at (202) 727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411. A reward of $25,000 is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
