FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A man has been charged with two felonies after he allegedly shot another person inside a grocery store in Fairfax County Saturday night.
According to police, Harvey Coleman called officers after he allegedly shot another man inside the Food Star grocery store at 5521 Leesburg Pike in Bailey's Crossroads.
Officers said the shooting happened around 6:40 p.m. Coleman claims the shooting was self-defense.
Investigators claim the victim had a brief interaction with Coleman before the suspect took out a gun. The victim allegedly took a fighting stance and Coleman shot him.
The man who was shot was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The man remains at the hospital but is expected to survive.
After talking with several people and reviewing footage, detectives arrested Coleman, who has been charged with malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
