Power Outages:
As of 6:50 a.m. Saturday, according to Dominion Energy's power outage map, more than 2,000 customers are without power near the DC area. Pepco's outage map shows that nearly all customers have had power restored across D.C. and Maryland.
There is no word at this time on when additional power may be restored.
Pepco tweeted late Friday evening that its system had taken "extensive damage" and that they did not have restoration times for all jobs.
"Our crews are working hard and we will provide updates on our outage map and mobile app as they make progress," the utility company tweeted. "We appreciate your patience."
Damages:
A lightning strike caused a fire in Wheaton, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
The fire sparked around 5:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Reedie Drive.
Piringer says trees, a fence and a shed burned in the fire. No injuries were reported.
Hours later a tree fell on a moving car on Montrose Road between Falls Road and 7 Locks Road. The driver is okay but the car took heavy damage, according to a tweet from Piringer.
