WASHINGTON — Metro riders are being told to expect delays after the L'Enfant Plaza Station was evacuated on Wednesday due to a small fire on the tracks. Riders should expect delays in both directions on the Green and Yellow lines as a result.
At 4:32 p.m., smoke was detected on the tracks near the Metro station in Southwest, D.C. The source of the smoke is unknown at this point, but as a precaution L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station was evacuated.
Police say southbound 7th Street, SW at Independence Avenue is closed due to fire department activity.
The Blue, Orange, and Silver lines are currently bypassing L'Enfant Plaza, but running on schedule. Shuttle buses have been requested at L'Enfant Plaza.
There are no reported injuries as a result of the fire.
