Man hit, killed by Metro train in North Bethesda

Around 8 p.m., the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority received a report of a person being struck by a train at the North Bethesda Metro Station.

NORTH BETHESDA, Md. — A man was hit by a Metro train and killed in the North Bethesda area on Sunday evening.

Around 8 p.m., the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority received a report of a person being struck by a train at the North Bethesda Metro Station.

First responders got to the scene, but the person was pronounced dead.

Based on the preliminary investigation, Metro says the man trespassed – walked beyond the end gate and intentionally put himself in the path of the train.

Red Line trains were bypassing the station and shuttle buses were being provided for affected customers. Red Line trains were single tracking between Grosvenor and Twinbrook.

No other details have been provided.
