Crash involving at least 10 cars blocks express lane in Montgomery County

Drivers could experience delays around the crash scene.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Drivers may face delays on Interstate 270 in Montgomery County after a crash involving at least 10 cars blocked some lanes.

David Pazos, a public information officer for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services said emergency crews were called to a collision involving multiple vehicles just before 9 a.m.

According to Pazos, the crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-270 between Shady Grove Road and I-370, with vehicles on both sides of the Express Lanes effected.

Firefighters from Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Maryland State Police were called to the scene to assist. Pazos said all Express Lanes are blocked for the crash investigation. At least 10 cars were involved in the crash, and one person had to be pulled from their car following the crash. Investigators have not said anything about how many injuries were reported, or the severity of those injuries.

Sky9 flew over the scene, and it appears the vehicles involved are in the Express Lane

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but early morning snow and rain made conditions potentially dangerous Monday morning.
