CHEVERLY, Md. — A pedestrian is dead after being struck on Baltimore-Washington Parkway Thursday morning. Police are still working to figure out exactly what led to the deadly collision.
According to a spokesperson for U.S. Park Police, officers responded to the northbound lanes of Baltimore-Washington Parkway near Route 50 around 4:30 a.m. for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. When officers got to the scene they found the person had been struck, and was later pronounced dead.
Multiple lanes were blocked early Thursday for the crash investigation. Drivers in the area were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
It is not clear how many drivers struck the pedestrian while they were in the road, but investigators say all vehicles involved remained on scene. Police have not identified the person killed.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. No other details were made public.
