9+ things we learned at UNC Pro Day

Quarterback Drake Maye headlined the 15-player workout.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — At the indoor practice facility at the University of North Carolina, media gathered for yet another Pro Day.

The walls were painted the trademark Carolina Blue, with the illuminated school and Air Jordan logos placed reverently on the wall, almost staring down at the field.

Local media attention was split between the men's basketball team and possibly the greatest quarterback prospect the school has ever produced, Drake Maye.

Here are 9 things we learned from UNC Pro Day:

1. Maye measured in at 6-foot-4, weighing 223 pounds, both of which are considered great for an NFL quarterback.

2. If Maye were selected in the top two in the upcoming NFL Draft, he'd be the 2nd quarterback from UNC in the last seven years to be taken in the top two.

3. Maye's former UNC teammate, and former Commanders quarterback, Sam Howell was at the Pro Day on Thursday. The advice he gave Maye? Three words: "Let it rip."

4. The Commanders contingent was the same as the last two Pro Days, with Dan Quinn, Adam Peters, and Kliff Kingsbury were in attendance at Chapel Hill.

5. The Patriots, who were also with the Commanders at LSU on Wednesday, were in attendance.

6. There were 15 players participating in UNC's Pro Day.

7. Safety Giovanni Biggers, who went to high school at Boys Latin in Baltimore, MD, was also one of the players working out on Thursday.

8. Drake Maye's father, Mark Maye, played quarterback at UNC back in the 1980s.

9. Maye's mother Aimee played basketball at UNC in the 80s.
