Family named twin boys after Washington Capitals players Nick Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin

This family made sure the Washington Capitals would always be apart of their family.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9)--Many fans try to find a way to make their favorite teams apart of the their family in a unique way.

Herndon, VA parents Natasha and Steve did just that.

Our own Diane Roberts met a family who loves the Capitals so much they named their twin boys Nick, after Niklas Backstrom and Alex, after Alexander Ovechkin.

The boys were born in July of 2016.

The boys' father Steve said, “if the Caps play like they did in the last two games against the Tampa Bay Lightning they can win this series and hoist the Stanley Cup."

It’s a school night, or in Nick and Alex’s case, a daycare night, so having the kids out late might be a problem.

Natasha, the boys' mother said it’s worth it.

They’re thrilled to be at Capital One Arena for Game 2 because, “it’s the Stanley Cup!”
